I was contacted to do a commission for a Stained-glass dome that was initially used as a hanging pendant but the couple wanted it turned into a floor lamp.

It was a challenge that both excited and nerved me. It was such a personal piece to them, a treasure from a talented family member... given to them in love. I was hell bent on figuring out how to keep it secure and beautiful at the same time.

The couple brought the dome to me and I immediately was inspired; I saw a towering fairy cathedral. The glass was like the giant trees of the southern states.

I made her trunk out of mostly wood. painted a rich deep brown. I filled termite burrows in the large bottom piece with liquid glass to match the shade.

The ceramic vase also has the same design as the stained-glass dome.

I used a heavy-duty harp to secure the heavy dome.
