Terralily

The morning sun makes diamonds off the dew

That gathered from the chilled night past

The midnight air has blown through

The darkness does not last

The song birds start their chorus of calls

Awakening all that are sleeping still

As the shadows shorten & the dew drop falls

On the shadowy earth that lays chill

The terralillies uncurl to greet the light

Like delicate elephants in the blowing grass

Their drooping trunks give such a sight

And an aroma no bee can pass

Spring has come, the earth regrows

Slumbering days are all but done

The buds take shape, the river flows

Here under the blazing sun
